Algerian boxer Imane Khelif will sue Elon Musk and JK Rowling, as well as Donald Trump, in a complaint of “cyber harassment” after the controversy over her gender identity “male or female” at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

What is certain is that the Algerian boxer who won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics has obtained full recognition from the International Olympic Committee that she is a female and has the right to compete in the women’s category. She has therefore become entitled to sue anyone who bullied her or questioned her femininity, especially famous international figures.

The details of the case are not yet clear, and whether Khalifa, her lawyer in France, and the circle surrounding her want to take her right through the law, or whether it is a good opportunity to continue in the circle of fame, or whether the end of the case will be linked to huge financial compensation.

    Some names revealed
Days after Algerian boxer Imane Khelif filed a legal complaint in France over the online harassment she faced during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, some high-profile people have been revealed as part of the case.

Elon Musk and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling were named in the complaint, which was filed against X platform, according to Variety.

“J.K. Rowling and Elon Musk are mentioned in the lawsuit, among others,” attorney Nabil Boudi told Variety on Tuesday.

Boddy also added that former President Donald Trump will be part of the investigation, but it is not yet clear whether he will be named in the complaint.

“Trump tweeted, so whether or not he is named in our lawsuit, he will inevitably be investigated as part of the prosecution,” the lawyer added.

Olympic boxing champion Iman Khalif has filed a complaint saying she will sue anyone who has harassed or bullied her online over the controversy surrounding her sexual identity.

Khalif won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in the 66kg category, which came after she failed a gender test at the 2023 AIBA competition.

Following her win over Italy’s Angela Carini in her opening round bout at the Olympics, Khalif faced a barrage of criticism after the Italian conceded the fight after just 46 seconds, and walked out of the bout in tears, saying she did not feel there was any kind of parity with the Algerian boxer who had excessive power.

What happened? And how was the bullying carried out?
In a post on X the day after Khalif’s fight with Karen, Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, wrote: “We object to everything that happened because we saw a male punch a female.”

After the match, former swimmer Riley Gaines wrote: “Men don’t belong in women’s sports #IStandWithAngelaCarini.” I stand with Angela Carini.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, retweeted the tweet, adding, “Sure.”

    Possible Punishment for Cyberbullying

Depending on the conduct involved, a defendant convicted of felony Harassment and Cyberbullying as Crimes could face up to 5 or even 10 years of prison time. Many states punish first-time harassment offenses as misdemeanors and subsequent harassment convictions as felonies.

IOC Recognizes Eman Khalif as Female
The International Olympic Committee has defended its decision to allow Khalif to compete in this year’s Summer Games in the women’s category. The IOC had previously stripped the International Boxing Federation of its recognition as boxing’s governing body in 2023, and Khalif was listed as female on her passport.

“We have seen misleading information in reports about two athletes competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” the IOC wrote in a statement after Khalif’s first fight.

“The two boxers have been competing in international boxing competitions for many years in the women’s category, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the International Boxing Association (IBA) World Championships and tournaments sanctioned by the International Boxing Federation. The two boxers are victims of a sudden and arbitrary decision by the International Boxing Federation. With the end of the International Boxing Federation World Championships approaching in 2023, they have been suddenly disqualified without any legal process.”

Khalif’s coach, Mohammed Al Shawa, told reporters shortly before her gold medal win that the boxer had been “very affected” by what she had been facing – largely online – during the Olympics.

“Iman was very affected by this situation. (She said) ‘Why me?’” Zhao said. “She did not give in to this campaign of abuse, she gave them a lesson in morality.”

Lawyer Bodie confirmed that other names may appear as part of the investigation, and continued: “What we are asking is that the Public Prosecution does not only investigate these people, but also those it deems necessary,” and the lawyer told Variety magazine: “If the case is referred to court, they will be tried.”
